Reasons?

Disbanding the Senate, I guess... cause the House of Representatives is such a valuable governing body.

I'd say disband both and have a lottery system just like jury systems. Want to show America is great, then we deal with all stupid and smart alike. Oh, and if you think I'm joking, that's fine... but realistically it will show where the real problems stand in our country.

In the case of a system like that though, we could also have people recalled if a large enough percentage demands it.

For the people, by the people, if you don't want idiots in power, then don't educate them to be that way.

That's not the 12th, unless you mean changing how many senators are from each state... it sounds like you just want to change how they're elected?

You have to be twenty-five to be a congressman, thirty to be a senator, and thirty-five to be president--I think those numbers could be adjusted upwards--but the founding fathers definitely had something in mind in choosing those thresholds. I put smart in quotation marks precisely because it is indefinable--how about people who have repeatedly and publicly shown that they have their shit together? You wanted reasons--I gave you a couple; "smart" wasn't one.

Actually, my bigger concern would be the Chicago-level corruption spreading across all 50 states, as Governors traded favors for Senatorial seats.

I'd be thrilled if the DNC or GOP imploded - maybe that's what it takes to get a new party or two going.
