They put guns on jets for a reason, in case the missiles don't work, you don't want to be unarmed in a theoretical dogfight, just in case bro. Two weapons is better than one a damn good chunk of the time, unless the second weapon is pure deadweight with no actual use, clearly railguns have their uses, even if they aren't the most useful multi-purpose weapon in the tool shed.

Just because there are some situations where it's not a good idea to use a certain weapon, doesn't make that weapon obsolete, the same can be said of any weapon, even the most useful. The bar for obsolescence has to be a lot higher, because where you set it makes little sense.

When it can shoot at over 100 miles at Mach 7, I don't think tracking is going to be an issue.
All good on the open seas.

Hey, it's a cool toy. Should be great if the Muslims assemble a Grand Armada to storm our beaches.
Want to knock down a fortress door 100 miles away... there ya go. Knock Knock bitches.

But railguns aren't ideal to use in some circumstance, so obviously they are obsolete, right Conservative?

Hey, I love paying all my taxes to the military toys, when we just can't figure out fucking healthcare and feeding the poor.

If the situation calls for those weapons, they will use them, if the situation calls for a rail gun, they'll use that instead. There are better ways to save taxpayers money than saying jets and tomahawks can handle everything the military does.

It would be cheaper to use the rail gun than to send a plane or a missile.

In GCF world, spending any money on the military is a waste of money, especially since he thinks it's being spent on a bunch of things that are "obsolete". The US military already spent money on the jets and missiles, so just use them, no new expenditures, I assume that his short sighted line of reasoning. There are tons of bloat in the military where dollars are not wisely spent, plenty of tax payers dollars that could be saved, but GCF should try a more surgical approach, instead of pretending that everything is obsolete.

Of course, but I mean why not be able to shove a javelin the size of someone's arm through a door, and probably 1/2 the building and people standing in its way without the use of gunpowder... I mean hell, why put all the gunpowder and other people out of business. That's just cruel, I mean MAGA right?!

When your nearest competitor is using Vietnam-era technology, and your social programs are falling apart, you probably don't need to blow a wad on phasers and transporters.

I would agree - except for the fact that our social programs are falling apart because the left thinks the American tax payer must foot the bill to bring the entire 3rd world out of poverty.....

Now, if we could just divert the MIC from war machines to space mining.....
