He hasn't said anything about the subject lately, it's referring to one of those many off-hand things said during the campaign that just get lost in the shuffle. Realistically, I don't see Trump or the Republicans giving this petition the time of day, especially in the current national political climate.
Really shitty timing on this for the PR Statehood supporters, honestly.

Well, I for one would like to point out the grave injustice of that Spanish-American War. We were totally in the wrong. To make reparations, we Trump should publicly apologize to the Spanish people and return the territories that we took from Spain.

If they ever do become a state (and this was also brought up like a few years ago) then I guess there are three different patterns that the flag can be changed to:

They all look star patterned to me, man.
It's a funny artifact of history that all our potential 51st states, PR, DC, and splitting CA, would result in a new Blue stronghold. There's no Red state to make to balance like they did with AK & HI. Split TX?
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

The first pattern is arranged in rows, the second is a hexagon, the third is a circle with a star pattern in the middle.

I think I'd go with the circle.
Re: turnout, most of them know that it's a lost cause. They all want statehood, but they know it's not going to happen.
Same for Guam and the Solomon Islands. No point in worrying about it.
