First time I got in a fight in high school, it was the classic bully yipping me in class, me yipping back, him coming after class "you're dead afterschool" scenario, all day long kids are coming up to me "he's gonna beat you up, he's gonna beat you up, he's gonna beat you up", and I have to admit, they were making me nervous, thing was tho, I bussed to that school, it was a preppy school in a preppy neighborhood, but I was from downtown east side, so the reason I was nervous, is that in my neighborhood, people got seriously fucked up, so when the time came at 3:15, I just went for broke, do or die, got the first punch in and kept them coming.

Anyways, after that, nobody fucked with me for the rest of the year. It even carried over into the next year, I don't think I had to fight again until well into the next year, in school at least, I still got into fights back in my hood.

One good showing, can buy you a lot of leeway, fight hard to fight less.

They didn't suspend me, I wish, that would have been the dream scenario, beat the piss out of some guy, then go on vacation? Yeah, sounds good, bring it on. Conformity school is for dopes, get me away from these morons, please do. If anybody needs me, I'll be over in Kensington Market smoking dope with the hippies, hollah.

I probably should have started more fights, just to try to get to Smitty's Bueller's days off, but I was too obsessed with girls, I was a fighter, who wanted to be a lover, just fuck off, dude, I'm trying to make time here. Pretty much the only reason to bother with high school; a central clearing house of chicks. Them preppy chicks was tight, had to go a few classes at least, just to meet up.

Go to art class, gym class, drama class, history class, and typing class, not to learn to type, that class is just full of chicks, other than that, skip everything else. I did go to geography class one year, but only cause I was hot for teacher, smokinest teacher of the year award, a geography MILF, who knew?

I don't think the teacher's care any more now than they did back in my day, they'd probably love to see a few of these spoiled brats belted upside the head, the schools are probably just worried about getting sued, the biggest change between back then and now, is back then, nobody sued, whereas now, everybody sues, on the drop of a hat, an ambulance chaser around every corner.

Back in my day there was full on rumbles, kids spitting chicklets, getting their heads split open, the whole nine yards, but the administrators could contain the fallout, the parents never showed up with their lawyers in tow, back in the day.

Specifically among high school age kids. A lot of American schools today have such an expansive no tolerance policy that a guy who gets punched- and doesn't hit back- at home can be suspended for fighting. This level seems absolutely ludicrous to me, but I can at least understand the motivations for it.

What should be proper procedure for fighting, in and/or out of school?

Honestly, you shouldn't fight back. Both sides will get in trouble and more so today than it was during my high school days. So, I won't even try to fight back- honestly.

Although, the attitude when I was in school was this, and this seems to also be the prevailing attitude for a very long time before my high school days, "don't start anything but if someone starts something you with, finish it." Today, though, just don't fight back because more and more kids can get slap with assault charges (that will stick through your life) and also school suspension for both sides. School officials really don't care who started the fight- just who were the ones that threw the punches. They may care about how the fight got started but honestly both sides will be punish- regradless on who was the actual aggressor.

It seems that my advice is old as dirt Smitty. To be fair, most of the times when us "chicks" fight we do it in other ways but there have been a few brawls.

The idea is that the schools are too heavy handed in punishment sometimes, especially if you think that fighting isn't always a manifestation of deep psychological issues, but rather is something that simply will happen among adolescent people.

Well, there is a reason and a lot has to do with parents being upset at schools for either allowing the fights to happen and/or to get it out of hand. Which then leads to lawsuits, and then you also have things like zero tolerance for any violence/bullying at school and/or school functions.
