I get it Smitty, you were a military man. You secretly wish you had been an Imperial Soldiers, someone important in the moving and shaking of the world. No one says, I want to be the best Soldier in this small backwater auxillary unit. No, Everyone wants to be a Soldier in an Army in the Empire. I've seen it a lot. Nah, not really, I mean, we worked with the Americans, they didn't have it as good as us, they weren't respected like we were, the Americans and British were like pariahs, everybody hated them, everybody loved the Canadians, we had Americans who wanted to hang out with us and said "hey, don't tell anybody we're Americans, we're just gonna say we're Canadians too".

By any measure it was better in the Canadian Forces, not just because we were paid, fed, clothed, housed, and trained better, but even our equipment was better, America never spent that much on the troops, big ticket items maybe, but for the troops the Americans were cheap, we were always taken aback by how shitty the American troops had it, they were always impressed by how good we had it.

In my day, we were the ones deploying everywhere, with the UN, the Americans weren't doing shit, and even the Canadians who went to the Gulf War, when they got back, they said "you didn't miss anything, it was shit, sat in the desert for six months, no booze, no women, nothing to do, then they told us to pack everything up, it's over, we're leaving".

We even had an American platoon attached to our battalion for awhile, and they fuckin' loved it, they used to get fucked over so hard by their chain of command, they could not believe how cool it was in the Canadian Army. The jerk your chains chickenshit is off the charts in the US Army, even in the field they get dicked around to no end. American officers are the worst, they treat their troops like shit, it's funny how the British have this reputation for having prick officers, but the British officers are actually really cool, nobody beats the American officers, when it comes to being pointless dicks, in the US Army, it's all kiss up-kick down.

Hey, maybe the US Army is awesome these days, I don't know, but in my day, when we hung out with the Americans, it was just tales of woe, they had equipment shortages, they had broken equipment, they had understrength formations, they were constantly being laid the cock with shitty chickenshit duties, guy's were contantly getting jacked up for chickenshit, the chain of command did not give a fuck about their family lives, the officers didn't know what they were doing, the NCO's were power tripping assholes, they had racial tensions in the ranks, their stuff got stolen, there was all sorts of petty crime, it was like a prison camp.

They'd come hang out with us for a few weeks, and they did not want to go back.

The Jocks of NATO were the Germans and the Norwegians, giant blond Aryan supermen, when it came to sports, they were the Master Race.

The socs would probably be us, because we were the best paid, the best fed, the best clothed, the best housed, nobody spends more money on the troops than Canada, and we were the popular kids with all the locals, chicks dig us, we got all the girls.

The drama kids, I don't know, the French weren't in NATO at the time, so probably the Italians.

Oh, and the hottest in NATO was the Danes, they had the hottest of the hottest chicks in their army, it was ridiculous.

The Americans came in different varieties, in broad strokes, white guys, black guys, and hispanic guys, the white guys were the crackers, hayseeds, and churchy cornpones, the black guys were the keeping it gangster show offs, and the hispanic guys were the nerds, they were always funny looking, they had bad skin, they were akward, you know, Mexican types.

The Americans kind of segregated themselves, like prison gangs, the White Gang, the Black Gang, and the Hispanic Gang, so I guess you could think of the Americans as being the Hoods.

The Canadian Army is very white, so we mostly hung out with the White Gang, because crossing the lines could actually get tense, the Black Gang and the Hispanic Gang would view us as the White Gang.

Mind you, when we would interact with them, we would self segregate, because what black guys we had would congregate with the American black guys, that was all cool, but if I, whitey, tried to go hang out in that crew; not so cool, they would all look at you like "what the fuck you doing over here, boy?" We didn't have any hispanics, so we didn't really mix with them at all, they were very standoffish, the most gang like of all the American Hoods.

One time I walked into the washroom at an American E-Club, and there was a bunch of these hispanic guys who were all <gang sign> and they were telling me they were a gang and I better not fuck with them, yadda, yadda, yadda, and I'm thinking "these are soldiers, wtf?", anyways, I was drunk, so when one got in my way when I tried to leave, I punched him upside the head and started a huge brawl, Canadians v. Americans, which, as soon as it went down like that, all the American Hoods came together to fight us as one. We stomped them tho, they needed the MP's to come and save them.
