Re: CS315 - War on a Whim?
I'm through about the first half. Dan's been touching on this aspect of the hate that many Americans have for each other for a while now, and I simply don't know a solution either.
Although he touched on something in the beginning that bears more exploration and is 100% contributing to the hate. The whole part about the weekly/monthly news magazine vs the 24 hour cycle and internet. When you have the benefit of time passing, what seems like a crisis at one point won't seem like a crisis in a week. This ability to constantly inundate yourself with news is radicalizing people
Dan's obviously reached a crisis where he doesn't know what he thinks anymore. His part about the Late Republic and the Imperium being sold as something where the people don't have to deal with the violence in politics anymore seems like a great idea to me as well. That's not a good thing.
When he talked about Reconstruction then I started thinking about Calexit and wondering just what I would do. I used to think that I was always CA First because this is my homeland and the place I love, but at this point I really think I'm American First and might have to start planning a Bennettexit
I haven't listened to the last half hour

Indoctrination works. Religions have been doing it for millennium.
For democracy to work, liberty people need to get back in control of education. So, the first battlefield of Liberty Warriors is to break the Teacher's Unions. To do that, we need Right-to-Work in every State. Next, a Charter School voting majority in every State legislature. Third, "Charter" must include other forms of schooling, specifically Self-Paced Online & Homeschool. Lastly, Libertyists need to use our convincing powers to ensure liberty is part of the curriculum.
p.s. One of the HUGE problems is that Christianity is steeped in socialist thinking.

That was definitely the most sobering thought because Totalitarianism would be comforting. (Shucks, can't do anything about it, and Ivanka does wear fashionable clothes.)California wrote:Dan's obviously reached a crisis where he doesn't know what he thinks anymore. The form of government that humans everywhere have naturally evloved into, and which itself naturally arises from the worst of calamities.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:"Natural" form of government.
Even the Romans realized this in the late antiquity, hence the Diocletian reforms that reordered the empire into what would become the feudal organization Europe within a few centuries.

Good episode. Even the Clown Brigade should be loving his explanation and review of his ideas on 'outsiders'.

Yeah, good thing his wife set him straight.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Good episode. Even the Clown Brigade should be loving his explanation and review of his ideas on 'outsiders'.
"You said you wanted AN outsider, not ANY outsider, dummy! Now go put out an episode--Consuela doesn't work for free you know."

"Wife says," is not an excuse. However, I generally liked the episode.
p.s. I will say again, in a professional capacity, all Dan had to do was offer the same reservations I did about Trump. I put out an early podcast that talked about all the good Trump things, yet straight out called the guy an "intellectual fraud" and a "turd" BUT he was an outsider, and I was signed up for Outsider, so I sucked it up and became a Trumper. I also didn't Dump-on-Trump until it was clear he is incapacitated by narcissism, not just demonstrable of it. (Still, he really hasn't done anything yet, so maybe his Metahood somehow prevents him from totally faceplanting?)
Donald Trump

I'm starting to think that Trump is just running interference for Ivanka/Pence/whoever-is-actually-running-shit.
He's too much of a clown to be real.

Oh he's real. You just didn't realize that a clown could be this effective politically and are having trouble coming to terms with the fact that not acting hyper serious all the time as a politician simply isn't the automatic political suicide that you assumed it was.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I'm starting to think that Trump is just running interference for Ivanka/Pence/whoever-is-actually-running-shit.
