It's the hip thing if you're a millennial. I say that as one. Most people though are truly centrist, but the people who are most likely to respond on a message board are going to be typically gung ho politically far to the right or left. Hence, Fuck Trump. Hence, love Trump.

On the other side the incarnation of evil is the Koch brothers. In the end quite a similar way of thinking.

There's something very American in seeing the other political side being this sinister behind the scenes octopuss, no, make it a Kraken, that slowly tries to get hold of everything and hence will kill everything what is good in America and everything what the US actually stands for. While people see themselves representing the voice of reason, the other side is utterly bad with it's ignorant sheeple supporters willing to go off the cliff.

It's never that some people push an agenda, and the agendas typically has pro's and con's as everything. Nope: it's a sinister plan, an evil conspiracy done by dangerous people.



I think the main reason is simply that you never have coalition governments, the political parties never have to work with each other. It's a game where one party can get it all. Hence the vilification is totally natural. And as basically the two parties are close to each other in many things, they have to portray themselves being so different. What better way as to portray the other side as an enemy?
