Respecting cultural norms is fine, but if they're going to prattle on about “a gender equality perspective” and a “feminist foreign policy” in which “equality between women and men is a fundamental aim” then I think they're the biggest hypocrites in this scenario.

Presumably they are there to push those beliefs and without wearing headscarves they would not have access to the men in charge. I think that is better than not going and campaigning from Sweden instead. That is how you make change. Making point scoring posts on obscure internet forums is not how you do it.

Not to appease them, to gain access to the men in power to put forward a more progressive view of women's rights.
