Re: CA Minimum Wage is Bad for Workers? Inconceivable!!
California is a big state divided into a wealthy coastal core, and a poor, often destitute, surrounding strip.
In the core rents start at $1000 for a flea pit. You can see working class people living in cars, vans, and tents. Right next to the hipsters living in their $2000 plus jr one bedroom apartments. So saying $15 mlnimum is too much is economic BS. We got the jobs. We got the money. It's just going to ever fewer people.
In the strip, with some areas looking like some dystopian Hellhole, maybe not. But there the problem is the already nonexistent jobs. Not how much the pay should be.

I see you've constructed your narrative there. Nice work.

Your article is an op-ed written by
If he truly has concern for his employees as individuals he wouldn't be bitching about a $10-15/hour wage since he, like me, lives in this area that I know its near impossible to survive on $50k/year, let alone the $20k that you get from $10/hour
In all his fuzzy math nowhere does he mention cutting into his own profits in order to pay the workers he claims to "know them pretty well and have a genuine concern for them as individuals." There's a balance to where he could raise prices slightly as well.Houman Salem is the founder and CEO of ARGYLE Haus of Apparel in San Fernando.
