No. I'm just thinking that in west Texas maybe the natives would get drunk/high and hang out where it was cool to do some painting.

Yeah, it was plenty cool today. Temp in the fifties. The whole place is one big pile of rocks. Probably holds the night time coolness for a while. When I was under there, my wife told me she saw an inscription from April 1887. I said, "so, one hundred and twenty nine years ago." Math triggering ensued.

My theory on the development of the huecos is the freezing of water. I haven't looked it up, but I don't think it's all that profound. The big one I found has reached the edge and broken through to create a window on the edge of the summit looking out on the landscape. I've got to get down there and get that picture.

Well it just seems like a cool way to escape the heat. It's really bizarre thinking people could actually live in that environment in the Stone Age. The amount of skill that must have took is mind boggling.

This environment would have been pretty nice, comparatively. Hueco Tanks is an oasis. Plenty of water. There are ten thousand year old settlement excavations there. In the middle of the desert. Sacred ground to those people.

Check out Enchanted Rock state park sometime if you get into the climbing. Beautiful place last I saw it. Great camping. Probably too many people now though.

Hell yeah. I go through Fredericksburg about a half dozen times a year. We'll check that one out soon.

Not Hueco, just the pass at sunset.
