Nope, raised by "democratic socialists" to be a "democratic socialist", steeped in history and politics from a young age, all with a "democratic socialist" bent imposed by my parents.

Just didn't take, couldn't get with the program. Had my own view of things from a young age as well, my parents raised me to be a critical thinker, which backfired on them, when ciritical thinking could not abide the "democratic socialism" nonsense they were peddling.

Nah, I left the hippie thing in the 70's, I was more Punk-Mod-New Wave in the 80's.

In another weird parallel I left home at 17 too. Not to take the Queen's shilling but to learn how to cook for her grandson 25 year later.
My mod stage lasted about a week before I found punk.

I think DrY needs to spill it.

My parents were both immigrant bourgeois lefties. Dad from Spain where his dad was a tavernkeep who favored the republicans against Franko... He stayed alive by letting the fascists believe he was taking their side, allowing them to use his tavern for meetings. He almost got busted. My dad was a little boy when the Guardia Civil came to take him away and he refused to go. "Kill me here if you must." They walked out and let him go. My Dad was a family doctor who passed away 5 years ago. My mom wouldn't let him become a shrink... cause she believed all shrinks to be nuts.

My Mom is from Germany where her dad was a school principal and they were moved into Poland during the occupation under Hitler. Her dad was a secret lefty, bohemian, Goethe loving, violin player, but kept that secret. He protected my mother and her brother from the Hitler Youth for as long as possible, until he couldn't any more. My uncle then dropped out of school. My Mom continues to be a stubborn anti-authority type that makes up her own mind about all things.

So I was born into this bourgeois lefty thing... My wife's family is more authoritarian and conservative, full Ukranian heritage... but she rebelled against their authoritarianism and is as lefty as they get.

This place has been a breath of fresh air.
Definitely a red pill experience...
But I'm still a lefty.

One of my best friends and ex employer had a father who fought on the correct side in the Spanish civil war. He lost a leg and escaped to France where Marilda was born. She's as left as you like, on the streets of Paris in '68 and arrested in England at Greenham common as part of the snowball anti-nuke protests. I have my best political debates with her as she listens as well as talks. She also dropped everything and came with me to France to help with the red tape when dad died. I owe her a lot.
Call her a champagne socialist and she would bite my head off.

The changing demographics are going to turn the Republican Party into a de facto "Party for White People," and the best thing to do is to try and operate within those constraints to shape a future for white people.

See what I can't figure out is why a future for white people shouldn't also work out for brown/yellow/red/black people...

There is such a thing as win-win.

The logic of economics all hinges on mutual prosperity... the better they do... the more of our stuff they buy... the more taxes go to the state and vice/versa.
