Yes, unfortunately, our current leaders in the West do not understand anything outside of their own narrow point of view. They think everything is about Wall Street. When in reality everything is about energy. Our leaders need to accept that Russia won this round. What our leaders need to realize is Russia is just Venezuela, they are an oil state and nothing more. This is why the ruble has recovered oil prices have gone up, that is good for Russia. The way to make things bad for Russia is to reduce oil prices. The quick and easy path would be to flood the market with supply. The harder, but more permanent solution, is to get Europe off Russian oil reducing demand. If you do that at the same time as flooding the market, it will hurt Russia even more.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 5:49 pmDeflation is not a bad thing unless your economy is built on selling debt. Russia on the gold standard and selling oil in their currency allows money printing - just like the US. They’re essentially making a play for a piece of the big pie. And winning. This is geopolitical chess, and he baited the west into a sucker move.

Technology isn't there, won't be for a while. Petro is still King.
There is nothing even close to replacing gas, diesel and natural gas for an energy source.
Plus, renewable energy takes metric tons of earth metals that must be mined, and the expense of extracting them is only going up. The only affordable renewable, Hydro-Electric, the Greenies have made taboo.
This is why, for all their virtue signalling on Ukraine, the EU will roll over and take it in the ass like the good cucks they are.

Why do you say the technology isn't there? Technology isn't the issue, you could easily run America with renewables today with the current technology. The issue is the cost of switching over. Renewables are starting to become cost competitive, but still more expensive, and the majority of that cost is paid up front. That is a hefty bill to be paid all at once.C-Mag wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 6:34 pmTechnology isn't there, won't be for a while. Petro is still King.

We still don’t have efficient mass energy storage, mainly. Our highest demand periods are at night, so solar is out. Wind is unreliable, and weve fucked up a million rivers with hydro.TheOneX wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 8:23 pmWhy do you say the technology isn't there? Nuclear is the only real alternative, and people don’t like it because scary.

With our current technology there is not enough copper, nickel, cobalt and lithium available at an affordable price to replace the 275 Million vehicles in the US alone. Then we don't have the electricity production or transmission production available. Nuclear is the only way to produce enough, but then you still need to be able transmit that energy where you need it. And all of that requires more natural resources, and intensive mining.TheOneX wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 8:23 pm

That's what I mean by saying the technology isn't there. Our current resources do not support our current technology to replace petroleum.

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
Russia has already lost
this war was clear and obvious blunder
exposing many of their glaring weaknesses
that were previously perceived to be some of their few strengths
these events are speeding up the demise of Russia
claims of Russia playing a smart geopolitical chess game here
are flat out retarded
there position is getting weaker with each move

Also, the US is nowhere near ready to get into renewables as a full-time thing. The current version we have right now is too destructive to nature, and if we are to use it to place the US as 100% renewable, there would be swaths of land that would be barren and covered in corpses of flying animals.
You would change or destroy the entire ecosystem of areas.
