That's not how China works. They don't try to maximise profit. They want to maximise market share. Hence, they always offer "best price".

They play the long game. It's in their DNA.

I think, therefore, they might go for pleasing the West this time. That is the bigger market, by far.

For what it's worth, I have a Russian nurse coworker that said she called her mom and dad in Russia, and they said prices have not increased, it's not the apocalypse. She says they are laughing at the sanctions. Granted she is pretty biased towards Russia (she shows me Russian state propaganda every time I bring up Ukraine), but I've never known her to outright lie to me. The last time I asked her was like a week ago, so maybe the sanctions just hadn't had a chance to bite.
