Ok. Why would we interfere and gamble the planet over a piece of Ukraine, when we didn’t do it over crimea or Georgia?Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:25 amsays who ?SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:24 am.
We didn’t build triad to hold them completely hostage across the globe.
that is exactly what the TRIAD is for, and why they fold anytime America brings it to bear
the Russians don't stand a chance and they know it
stop cowering
What’s so special about donbass?

Peace Through Strength
the way to deal with Ivan
is to call his bluff
you get right up in his kitchen
you cock the hammer on the TRIAD
and you put it in his mouth
next thing you know, Gorbachev is coming to Reykjavik to capitulate

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
We know that Putin said that but I feel as the snowball has been push from the top of the mountain and it is going to get out of control. Now if Russia just stops then major war will be avoided but from my understanding of Putin that has about a snowballs chance in hell of happening.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:09 amPutin said clearly that they declare as soon as we do that.SilverEagle wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:00 amHere is why I think we’re going to war.
I hope I’m wrong but with all the machinations of international politics I think it’s getting to the point of a Gordian knot.
A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows an overwhelming majority of Americans (74%) support establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine
The planes don’t even get to Ukraine before birds launch.
Have you seen the Putin Interviews? Gives you a really good scope of the man’s personality and mindset. He will not be backing down.
There is a time for good men to do bad things.

Sounds like an overeager cop when somebody scratches his nose.
We do that if he threatens nato countries. But doing it randomly over third world nowhere doesn’t make any sense.
Especially when we didn’t do it the last 2 times.
The only reason we’re even sanctioning him is because thr DNC kleptocrats’ personal income is threatened.

Balance of Terror at fifteen minutes notice to launch on warning
the Russians have crossed the Rubicon
Ukraine is just a proxy
this is a move against the CONUS itself, inherently, nuclear blackmail
not one step back
in fact, to maintain deterrence, at this point
you take a step towards them

He’s taking a big L and painting it as a win. All he gets is tiny buffer states and Ukraine legitimizing his taking of crimea. That’s a nothing burger.

some Millennial who learned everything he knows from the internet ?
I don't think you know how nuclear deterrence works
here's a hint, running away in the face of nuclear blackmail is a very bad strategy

Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine
when the Russian President openly and directly threatens America with nuclear war
that is no longer about Ukraine
that is a stated threat against the CONUS under effective wartime conditions
the Millennials may wish to run away and hide under their beds
but in the context of thermonuclear deterrence, the National Command Authority must not quail
Balance of Terror means what it says
when they take a step towards you, that is not the time to run away

- NATO is a defensive alliance, and is to be invoked only on defense of allied countries
OR:
- NATO exists to bottle up and oppose Russia and will be invoked at random.
If that’s the case, then Putin is right, and we’re in the wrong.
