I just hope the Mujahedeen used all those stingers..... fucking Reagan.
no way an FIM-92 from the 80's is still serviceable, those Stingers rotted into n/s status long ago

the shelf life of a MANPADS is pretty good, but it still turns into junk after about twenty years
Yep, it's an ignorant thing to bring up.
And a bunch of them weren't even stingers, but the earlier version called red eye.
they didn't even use that many of them, and the ones they used didn't even hit that many targets

the Soviets didn't pull out because of the MANPADs, that's a myth propagated by the Neocons

the Soviets were basically a giant military propped up by the OPEC oil cartel

when OPEC drove the price of oil up in the 70's, the Soviets were flush

then the Saudis decided that Jimmy Carter was right, the Soviets were a threat to Arabia

so then the Saudi's started pumping oil to crash the price

that price crash is what the brought the Soviets down

there were basically four pillars which brought the Soviets down

there was Nixon going to China, proving the Domino Theory wrong

then there was Reagan ramping the military budget up, forcing the Soviets to pay a steep price, 50% GDP to their military

then there was Pope John Paul II declaiming them as being evil, they were morally castigated by the Vatican

then the Saudis made them go broke, by crashing the oil price back down to $20/barrel in constant dollars, in December of 1986

and maybe there was one more pillar

and her name was Diana Spencer

Princess Diana was like a messianic figure

she changed the zeitgeist, she transformed the paradigm from one of politics into one of celebrity

the Soviets had nothing to compete with the messiah Diana Spencer

Diana Spencer rendered politics itself obsolete

Photos and reports from Iranian and Afghan social media show the Taliban have handed over US tanks and Humvees to Iran. Below is a photo of Humvees being transported toward Tehran.

the geostrategic imperative of the American Empire of Liberty is Freedom of Navigation on the high seas

the Taliban don't have a navy, nor even access to the sea, so it doesn't matter how many HMMVW's they have

the Taliban are no threat to American hegenomy

the threat is at home, a Deep State coup d'etat to overthrow the Republic itself

mass evacuating 100,000 Afghans from Kabul

if one in a hundred is ISIS-K or beholden to ISIS-K

that's 1,000 Jihadis brought strait to the CONUS by USAF C-17

they want another 9-11, they want that to happen, so they can invoke the PATRIOT Act against all Americans as "Domestic Terrorists"

That's interesting.

The Taliban and Iran have been enemies until the relatively recent past.

But then, I suppose the enemy of your enemy can make a convenient friend.

Still, why would they be handing over their "hard won" gear to Iran?
