well in the case of Vietnam that was not in play

what happened was that Nixon went above the heads of the Vietnamese to their masters in Beijing

once Nixon made peace with China, the war in Vietnam was no longer relevant to either party

the Chinese then told their proxies in Hanoi to just knock it off, let the Americans leave, clean break

bear in mind that the Taliban are not global Jihadists, they are just local

their only interest is to force the foreign invaders out

so the Taliban trying to drag America back in makes no sense as to their objectives

I don't pay much attention to it

Afghanistan ceased to be important when my regiment was pulled out of there back in 2014

the obligations to America under the Washington Treaty had been upheld, mission accomplished

after which I stopped watching, on the assumption this would be the outcome in the end

I've already moved on from Afghanistan as a going concern, long time ago

it wasn't actually strategically relevant back in 2001, it's not strategically relevant now

America is a Seapower, the imperative is Freedom of Navigation on the high seas

the Taliban have no influence on the high seas, so they are not an imperative to have to deal with

bear in mind that even the Bush Administration abandoned this mission back in 2003

it has been a NATO mission ever since, America was in a supporting role

now that NATO has finally pulled out, there is no reason for America to be there at all

if you're going to put up with downsides of America, you should at least get the benefit of the sun

you don't have to go all the way to tropical in Florida

but compared to Canada, Tennessee is nice, or South Carolina
