This is why I don't leave the compound unless I have to

Every time I go out and back in, I have to do a full decontamination drill

Easier to just lock in and stay in
This has been our strategy. The biggest problems have been my wife being required to come in to work and our teenage daughter wanting to go to places like Starbucks every day. It's the drivethru, but we treat that coffee cup like it's contaminated. She has to transfer the coffee to a new cup when she comes in, toss out the old cup, then wash hands. Not perfect, but the best we can do. We have told her the almost daily trips are not continuing.

Other than that and maybe 1 trip to a grocery store a week (just one of us goes) it's been isolation. Go out for exercise when the weather is good, but we don't come near anyone and don't touch anything.

When my wife comes home we do a decontamination drill. Shoes stay in the garage. Clothes go straight to the washing machine. She takes a shower. I follow behind her wiping down the door handles.

Lysol wipes do work on viruses, they kill H1N1 so they kill this bug

But they are in extremely short supply, so if you have them as I do, conserve them

Only use the wipes for what you need to, otherwise just keep on handwashing
What would you suggest as an alternative to the wipes for wiping down surfaces like counter tops, keyboards, phones, and door handles? We've been using the wipes, but as you said, they are in short supply.
Either bleach in water, 1/3 cup per gallon of water, or rubbing alcohol also works
Ah yes, bleach. We have plenty of straight bleach on hand. More than a gallon. I just have to be careful with it. I always end up getting on clothes I shouldn't.

Yeah, that's tough, at least my wife is scared of it, she won't go out anywhere but the woods

And I'm a recluse normally, all I care about is the weather cause I just like to hang out around here usually

So we are basically sealed in, that way we're not constantly having to decontaminate everything

The problem is more convincing our friends and relatives to take it seriously

It's like my buddy wasn't taking it seriously

But he knew the guy, Sean Cunnington, who just dropped dead of it

So that got his attention, so now he's staying in

Sean was not an unhealthy guy, he was 51 but he was in decent shape

Boom, dead.

Even if it doesn't kill you, you don't any part of this shit

This is the sort of thing that does permanent damage

If you get bad pneumonia, that can do as much damage in a week as smoking does in a decade

The sports are shut down because the pro athletes are not going to risk their careers with this shit

Yeah, I'm not sure I can spare 20% of my lung capacity. I'm saving that for smoking.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

See, if you notice the people in Wuhan, they aren't wearing N95 style respirators

The filter on N95 is not safe for viruses, they're too small, they go right through

So not a gas mask

What they wear in China is large surgical masks which cover the whole bottom of their faces

It's just a shield against droplets hitting your face

So again, you don't need N95 filtration, just a mask to cover your face

At least the UFC is still cool, for now. God Bless Dana White.

I was never quite the same after I had pneumonia in the army

It was an infection from some rare virus and it did go through the ranks of our whole platoon

It didn't catch up with me right away, but into my late thirties I started to feel it more

There's a dead spot in my right lung, a dead zone which I can feel, that's where the pneumonia dug in deep

I only had it in the right lung, it wasn't bilateral, this shit inflicts bilateral, both lungs at once, very dangerous

When I had it, I was only breathing out of my left lung, my right lung was full of fluid
