I'm off on my humanitarian/recce mission.
Wish me luck.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It should be pointed out, that for all the anecdotal evidence of perfectly healthy young people dying from the disease, calling them an outlier would be an understatement. Most of the anecdotal evidence of healthy young people dying happen to be people working with COVID-19 patients on the regular as well, on top of it.

Reinfection?

Maybe not reinfection, but additional infection before they become immune, they end up getting the worst strain of the disease by constantly working with mulitple patients with different strains, but I mean that's just me guessing. The data suggests young people with no underlying conditions are getting killed at seasonal flu rates, like 0.2%, and a lot of even that stat is propped up by more at risk health care workers, getting it and dying. Like if you are young, have no underlying conditions, and don't work in healthcare, this thing doesn't even kill at the seasonal flu mortality rate of the general population.

Good, all you youngsters can carry on working while us old geezers can sit around in the sun on government handouts.

Once more into the breach Millennials.

That is the best strategy, at least as far as I can tell based on the data available at the moment. Throw the millenials under the bus, about time they were useful for something. The most important social distancing measures are the one's that protect the old and sick from potential carriers, as the South Korean model clearly shows, and too much focus on universal social distancing for all under pretty much every circumstance, instead of focusing on protecting the particularly at risk populations.

My generation is garbage. I would happily be in the millennial sonderkommando unit enforcing Quarantine if it came down to it. Clueless old people and self-absorbed millennials are the ones out and about, and the reason for the ramping up of the lockdown.

The reason for the ramping up of the government mandated lockdowns, is SIFCLF's panicking and those who pander to the SIFCLF's to try and win votes in November. Has a lot less to do with optimal strategy, and everything to do with making people feel safe even when they aren't.

And yeah Millenials suck. Die Millenials, Reeeee!

It's multi-faceted. You have the real idiots out and about like nothing is going on, and the SIFCLF's screeching autistically about it, which makes the idiots not want to listen to them, so they continue to spread the virus.

The virus is going to spread whether the idiots are locked down or not, that simply delays the inevitable, it's a pure stall tactic until they come up with a real plan, all while keeping herd immunity low.

If you really want to protect old people in the long-term, delaying herd immunity on top of destroying the economy is the worst possible way to do that. Kicking the can down the road does not solve the problem and the consequences of doing so add additional problems even worse than the first problem in this instance.
