The flea market is the about the only place in America that even remotely resembles a free market, but even there the law patrols the tables to make sure nobody is selling contraband.

Raw milk ban, right? Didn't the Amish get their tit in a ringer over this?C-Mag wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 7:52 amThe Chicken reminds me of whole milk bans.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 12:26 am
No chickens at all. In fucking Ohio.
The only way this even makes sense is busybodies and big Ag don’t like it.
The farm market thing is equally absurd. The businesses downtown don’t want increased foot traffic, at the expense of competing with some shmuck selling t-shirts.

Yeah, we had alphabet Fed agencies going in full tactical to arrest people selling milk.Haumana wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 11:27 amRaw milk ban, right? I remember that. It only made me want to see what the hell all that hubbub was all about. In the Bay Area raw, unpasteurized, milk was selling for $20+ a gallon. I had to try it just once. It made a helluva mozzarella cheese ball.

I'm going to have to bookmark this quote. I have a feeling there will come a time when this will get thrown back at you.

there is an understanding and promise that all other competitors would also have to follow the same rules and if not I can petition my local government for a redress of those grievances. They value my business more so than your nonexistent one.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 9:03 amNo one is ‘stealing fr you’. This is not gang turf. You chose to open your gay little store, and pay those fees. There was no understanding or promise that you’d be the only idiot selling t-shirts for a square mile.clubgop wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:04 amWell they have a point there. Unfair competition is the gripe. I have to pay all these licenses, taxes, and occupancy fees and endure all these inspections but some dude can come along and glom onto the busiest day of the week and set up some ramshackle business and steal from me , yeah, no I'd be pissed too. A farmers market is one thing, a flea market disguised as a farmers market is something else entirely. These fucking clowns can’t deal with even the slightest hint of competition.

Yeah, my guess the chicken ban maybe something similar.Haumana wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 11:27 amRaw milk ban, right? Didn't the Amish get their tit in a ringer over this?C-Mag wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 7:52 amThe Chicken reminds me of whole milk bans.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 12:26 am

To answer Fife question, I dont buy from a truck on the side of a road, I buy from Amish or Mennonite on the side of the road. No one bothers them.
The amish keep and sell raw milk as long as they sell it amongst themselves no one cares but if it gets out into the general population they will come down hard. If you have a weak modern stomach you will get sick, it will be horrible. Amish and Mennonites here are given wide latitude there are some lines you just dont cross.

Negative. Or else we’d ban hot dog carts, and any other street vendor.clubgop wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 7:06 pmthere is an understanding and promise that all other competitors would also have to follow the same rules and if not I can petition my local government for a redress of those grievances. HA! If you think the hot dog carts are unregulated and uninspected you are sorely mistaken. I can guarentee it. Food trucks, same.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:17 pmNegative.
