Usually just noise if there are roosters, but generally I think the problem the urban do-gooders have is just simple contempt and bigotry towards country people. They don't want to be associated with anybody that is anything like rural, and nothing screams rural like chickens running around in the yard.

Think of all the stupid shit that these HOAs do. You can't even garden in a lot of these places. It has to be useless landscaping and very expensive grass. They want that particular NPC suburban look throughout.

1 - the chicken ban. Nobody is allowed to own chickens outside of a rural zone. This is insane. The state of Ohio took up the issue this year to reverse the ban, but our town and 1,000 others wrote a letter to protest it. Without consulting voters.

2 - the farm market. Some clown walks into the town council meeting a few weeks ago to protest that the farmers market blocks traffic and hurts sales ( it’s in a park, and doesn’t block anything).

So no chickens at all or a limit on chickens?

I thought you said the farmers market was exempt once a week now they are a target? Sounds like a busybody, I don't think the grocers care that much, produce has shit margins and is labor intensive. A weekly farmers market probably wouldn't even effect shrinkage.

The farm market thing is equally absurd. The businesses downtown don’t want increased foot traffic, at the expense of competing with some shmuck selling t-shirts.

She went on to say that at that time, they started looking at the vendors that were attending the market and this past season they eliminated 12 vendors to reduce the non-edible items being sold. She stated they are also discussing changing the hours of the market to 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

These fucking clowns can’t deal with even the slightest hint of competition.

It goes on and on with bitching about chairs being set up to watch parades and local musicians. Because that’s the reason you can’t sell nautical-themed garbage in Ohio.

I have to pay all these licenses, taxes, and occupancy fees and endure all these inspections but some dude can come along and glom onto the busiest day of the week and set up some ramshackle business and steal from me , yeah, no I'd be pissed too. +1 I'd love to see people start showing up to SF's workplace and start offering to do SF's job for less money. Just walk right in and be allowed to work for less on the spot while SF gets laid off until the migrant workers decide to move on.

Farmer's markets are rigged as fuck too, honestly. Good luck trying to break in there. You have to get permission to sell there, and the people that run the market are the major sellers. They don't like competition either.

Flea markets are about the only free market we have, really.
