A pipe collection is very dignified (or was, anyway). You can get a nice carved meershaum anytime you travel. You probably don't have a mantel to hold your pipe rack, but if you did...
I gave up pipes for cigars then cigars b/c it was affecting my skin but I sure miss the time on the patio drinking Scotch & smoking.

My grandfather smoked a pipe, the smell still takes me back. I had a period I would smoke one occasionally. It's a different thing. It seems for some reason smoking a pipe slows down time, even more so than a cigar.
I still have some of grandpas tobacco and an old rosewood pipe. He had many more, not sure what happened to them.
