Heck, the old Star Wars was quite SJW in it's time. Princess Leia wasn't the typical damsel in distress, the rebels were all kinds of races and species and there's a lot of leftist idealism in the first film. Bad guys were fascists. Hence nothing new under the sun.

Fascists had a motive and an ideology. They had a plan and some idea of where they wanted to take society. Just trying to keep civilization from crumbling is normal, run-of-the-mill sanity in the face of anti-civilizational forces. Again, the left ALWAYS projects and they ALWAYS give themselves away therein.

Fascists are Filthy Collectivists just like all Socialists. Nothing to do with personal Liberty and Freedom under either of those idologies.

This is exactly the problem.

The heroism of the Jedi was not, in the original trilogy, that they fought for the right cause. It was that they were virtuous in their use of of the force. The power of the Dark Side was exactly that, the unmitigated use of power. Abandoning the virtuous code in order to achieve their ends is what makes Darth and the Emperor the villains of the piece, not the ends themselves.

The real tragedy of the new films is that they feel they have to really drive home the point that the 'cause' is what is important. It is extremely cynical, and only damages the story.

Dune was amazing. Not the book (too many large words), the movie, though I doubt a troglodyte like you would be able to understand many of the great special effects and timeless costumes the movie had to offer.

Sad movie. House Harkonnen is such a tragic tale. It sucks how the hero, played by Sting, is killed off like that.
