That sort of supposition relies on an acceptance of the Nuremberg Defense. Last I checked, that wasn't how we reacted at then. Where do we reconcile the idea that they take an oath to enforce laws, being similar to a soldier's following orders, with the idea that they should pursue right and justice? The difference of opinion on where that balance ought to lie seems to me to be a prime mover in these arguments.
