Fluting the Bolt, which carries the firing pin, is a recent fad. Mostly for looks. You can get it done for your gun at the cost of $50. Really does nothing, but looks. People make lame arguments, weight, allows for debris to not fowl bolt movement or heat dissipation. It's lies people tell themselves...… but it looks kind of cool.

Guns like these are super accurate. But, we can't afford them, guys that shoot these are the guys that can afford to go shoot Cecil. I appreciate the craftsman that build them, far more than the guys that buy them.

Yeah, that's about all you need. You can kill about anything on the planet with that. My motto is, don't buy guns that can out shoot you. What I mean is, why buy a gun capable of 1500 yard shots, if you are only capable of consistently hitting 500 yard shots?

Look at what I used to own for 800. This isn't my pic but it was identical as far as I can tell. I got compliments at the range all the time and it was more accurate than I'll ever be

Dude, one of my favorite rifles is a Model 54 Winchester 30-06. Built in 1927. It was a half inch off to the left at 200 yards with the old redfield scope, and I've never touched it. I killed a lot of game with that thing. It's been retired for a few years now.

IMO, old guns is where it's at.

I never hunted with it I was just building my basic bitch gun collection and wanted a nice accurate bolt action. I did take it to the range to zero it in and get to know it and it was a fucking beast. 30-06 in a 18" barrel is no joke. I had a blast with it and I think I told the story about asking my wife to go get some more ammo from the range house and she came back with a federal 180 grain box. I just smiled my ass off and destroyed my shoulder cartilage.

I miss my mosin nagant too though. I knew that over engineered under performing POS inside out. It had class.
