can you read?
THE Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution.
That is the preamble to the bill of rights, where it is written in plain english that the reason these amendments are being added is because the states want these things added so they can,
prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers
A number of them, yes. Not specified whether this is to mean a majority or even a significant number, but
Some of them.
I did read gud.

get back here. those aren't yours!
pissypuss argues, with no evidence, that the bill of rights, specifically the second amendment, has nothing to do with protecting against tyrannical government, but was simply a measure to ensure that a new nation could legally possess the arms necessary to defend itself from external enemies.
we could spend a lot of time laughing at that one. that a nation would need to dictate that it's military had a right to bear arms...
guess we need to drag a whole heap of foreign nations into the UN for having armies without having written that right into their laws.
then the noble scholar... oh shit,

Madison shows up and says, hey folks how bout this constitution?
Folks say, looks like the government's gonna be pretty strong. Got any protections?
Madison says, yeah. We'll put some in.
Folks say, uh. We wasn't clear. Put them in first, or we ain't signing.
Madison goes back to quill and paper, them folks want protections against tyranny, so here's some protections against tyranny.
Folks say, alright. We're in.
