Haven't got a place to upload pictures to, and pretty paranoid when it comes to picture sharing, due to exif data and all that.

But it's pretty sweet. only 2000 NOK, works perfectly except the rear iron sights are stuck, so so far, only the 300 and 700 meter settings works. But according to the stock disc, it zeroes at 100 when set on 300 anyway, and that's all I would ever need for hunting purposes anyway.

Now I only need to find some good gun grease, which is extremely hard to find in this country. I get the impression people don't actually clean their guns themselves here, but hand them in to gun smiths about as often as we do well in football.

Imgoat removes exif data. Just don't get any of the numbers in frame.

Also, if you have any questions go to /k/ on 4chan. Lots of Mauser snobs there

I got the chance to handle some real swords at a convention here in Vegas at combatcon. The closest feel to the real swords were from the guys at albion. I can tell me and many other knifemakers were way off. I couldn't believe how light they were for swords. Even the great sword was fairly light for it's size. I got to talk to some swordmakers there and will be saving my pennies for a 3d scanner and go to museums now and scan some of the real deals to make my own.

Knife and gun show at the county convention center. Might find some time to walk over.

Got my second gun. Now I'm officially more armed than your average American.

The new one is not as awesome from a historical standpoint as the Swedish Mauser though.

Remington 597. Used and abused, paid the same for it as for the Mauser. Some cheap 3-9 magnification scope, cheap suppressor, two 30 round mags, and two 10 round alluminium mags came with it. So still a pretty decent deal in my eyes. .22lr is cheap, even here, so I figured it was a decent gun for learning the basics without destroying hearing, budget or any historical firearms.

It was quite the bitch to clean though.

Yeah, those little semi autos are tough to clean. Compressed air is your friend.

Sounds like you have a good little plinker there.

If it's already used and abused, you can soak it in a varsol bath, loosens the carbon for you, so you can just wipe it clean after. /pro tip

+1. Varsol is a hell of a bath.

When we moved into our snazzy new (at the time) headquarters complex in Petawawa, Victoria Barracks, which we called the "Death Star", we had dedicated weapons cleaning rooms in all the rifle company and combat support platoon areas, like gun garages, with varsol on tap, a varsol spray hose which came right out of the wall.

It was the cat's ass, when you came out of the field, just drop the weapons in the varsol bath, carry on with other tasks, come back after for a quick wipe down of the weapons, then lube with breakfree, and bob's your uncle, you're off to the mess for wobbly pops, in half the time. :thumbs up:
