Dude was an Indian, served in the Navy, had a black belt in Karate, and Trudeau whupped him but good. Trudeau may be a pretty boy, but he's also a jock. And, kid's got a temper, make no mistake, don't be fooled by the smiling selfies, he don't put up with no guff.

So, reportedly, the sniper team was indeed JTF2, in overwatch of Iraqi Security Forces, the target was Daesh laying in ambush, the shot was taken from a multi story building "high rise", range was 3540m, and it was cold bore, one shot one kill.
Canadian Snipers have three of the top five longest shots now, but that one could stand for awhile, because it's almost 50% further than second, which is British sniper Craig Harrison at 2475m, then two more Canadians, both PPCLI snipers, Rob Furlong at 2430m and Aaron Perry at 2310m, then the American at 2300m.
Ah well, at least you made the top five, America, no shame in that, eh?

Gotta leave something for other nations to achieve or they start developing self esteem issues.

Has any of these guys ever solved a Calculus problem?
p.s. I know, I know, if you don't want to play soldier, don't bring a stick to the sandbox.
p.p.s. Sounds like they're naturals for Trig.

Given that some of them are officers, the answer would be: yes.

America shot down a satellite with an F-15. What did Canada do?

Pfft, I don't see this as an actual successful form of beating the furthest shot. If you say furthest shot by assisted technology, and not by spotter, and non-tech boosted scope, then you got yourself an agreement.Smitty-48 wrote:So, reportedly, the sniper team was indeed JTF2, in overwatch of Iraqi Security Forces, the target was Daesh laying in ambush, the shot was taken from a multi story building "high rise", range was 3540m, and it was cold bore, one shot one kill.

There's no tech boosted scope, it's either a Leopold or a Schmidt & Bender, the optic hasn't changed, and the spotter really only comes into play if you miss, he can't call the shot on a cold bore shot, he has to see the round go by to see how/where you are off, cold bore shot one shot one kill, optical sights or otherwise, at 3540? That's a mic drop, anyway you slice it.The Conservative wrote:Pfft, I don't see this as an actual successful form of beating the furthest shot. If it took ten shots, that wouldn't be so impressive, but walk off homerun on the first pitch? There's really no tech which can assist with that, not at 3540, because you're actually just making an educated guess at that range, there is no dope to punch into the computer, for the Tac-50 3.5 klicks, because nobody has ever even come close to that, in order to record the dope.
In the end, the Americans have the exact the same technology, there's no cheat which Canada is using that America doesn't have, the only tech boost is that they have a .50 cal sniper rifle now when before they didn't, but it's the same rifle the Americans use.
Apparently it was one of JTF2's Master Snipers, they could see the Iraqis walking into the ambush, there was no time to warn them, so he said "I'm just gonna have to wing it here, seat of the pants, stand-by, stand-by..."
At over 3.5 klicks, there is no dope, 10 second flight time, 3 or 4 winds, from a high rise to the ground over two miles away, time sensitive target beyond your range card, shoot now, now, now, or else? The fancy kit is actually less useful at those sorts of ranges, because that's the next ballpark over, you can't get data from over there, to punch into your computer over here, you just have to look for signs, Mk.1A eyeball, and then make a prediction based on your intuition.
You're just shooting on instinct at that point, you can get windspeed and weather kit out, and then punch that into your ballistic calculator, but none of that is telling you what the wind is doing out there, over two miles and ten seconds away, you can't tech yourself into a cold bore mic drop in that distance, the way to find out, would be to put rounds downrange and have the spotter call the shots to correct, but cold bore, there's nothing to spot, it's all or nothing, first round downrange.
Do you even snipe, bro? What exactly is it that you think Carlos Hathcock did? Same-same, if this is not impressive, than neither is the White Feather, can't have it both ways.
