You should watch the documentary Room 237, hundreds of different people have seen hundreds of different conspiracy theories in the Shining. It will change the way you watch the movie regardless of whether you believe any of them. Great documentary, one of my favorites.

I watched this yesterday. It's a documentary about WIlliam Binney and the program he made that was used to collect metadata. The interesting bit about his program, ThinThread, is that it had built in privacy protections that would prevent unlawful collection. ThinThread was, of course, discontinued by Michael Hayden in favor of another program contracted externally called Trailblazer which contained no privacy protections.

One thing that stood out to me was how in the aftermath of 9/11 it was found out that officials in the NSA were happy about the blank check they'd be given as a result of the attack. It stayed with me for a few hours.
