Re: Would You Choose More Money or Less Hours?
With productivity continuing to rise, and necessary man hours to ensure that productivity decreasing through automation, why is it so easy to imagine almost everybody getting fucked in that deal and almost impossible to imagine the majority benefiting?
Is there some universal law that I am unaware of that states things must be arranged to maximize toil?

A political system rigged to the 1% is ultimately result in revolution, either in the streets or at the ballot box. That's probably where we're going, so let's assume it happens, in which case my plan has the same random chance as anybody else's of being implemented. So, if you're asking how the Hash Plan would redistribute wealth, like I've said many times: wealth redistribution through Progressive taxation & a confiscatory Inheritance tax.

With the current paradigm, fewer and fewer are going to be able to make it as time goes. Shitty disruptions can always come along, though. Ultimately, unless shit falls apart, competition of ability is only going to increase. I'm banking on being able to stay ahead in the near term. Shit could accelerate faster than I foresee, however; and were that to happen, without a fundamental shift in society, I, and all of you, would have to adapt to a monumentally different paradigm.
I don't think we're ready for that. Here's hoping for more of the same slow and steady change at a rate we can adapt to.

The Hash Plan need not be implement by said "Martin Hash," as long as I clearly articulate it to upcoming Millennial movers & shakers, one of them may be the instrument. Maybe you...?

It wasn't addressed to anyone in particular... more the general sentiment that doing more and more for less and less seems inevitable. I like the Hash Plan well enough, but it (like any other plan) is going to be a hard sell as long as we are tied to the idea that making things better is a fools errand, and the best we can do is stymie the worsifying.Martin Hash wrote:I'm not sure who this is addressed to?Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:With productivity continuing to rise, and necessary man hours to ensure that productivity decreasing through automation, why is it so easy to imagine almost everybody getting fucked in that deal and almost impossible to imagine the majority benefiting?

Well, all my friends that majored in Exploring Intersectionality Through Interpretive Dance aren't exactly optimists these days... but they are just being sticks in the mud over America's re-greatification.Martin Hash wrote:You must be in the orbit of some Conservatives.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:I like the Hash Plan well enough, but it (like any other plan) is going to be a hard sell as long as we are tied to the idea that making things better is a fools errand, and the best we can do is stymie the worsifying.

It's not what may happen, it's what has happened. Productivity has gone up and workers have not seen proportional benefit. Every cent is being wrung out of the worker (maximum toil), with the benefits going to the 1%.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:With productivity continuing to rise, and necessary man hours to ensure that productivity decreasing through automation, why is it so easy to imagine almost everybody getting fucked in that deal and almost impossible to imagine the majority benefiting?
