SCAR FTW, lighter, much easier to strip, clean, maintain, better sights, ambi-cocking lever forward on receiver, monorail, adjustable folding stock, and most of all 7.62; but feels like you're shooting 5.56, smooth operator, wouldn't know it was a big bore to shoot it. To actually take into battle, humpin' and pumpin', in the field? SCAR, all day.

Yes, well, an M1A would look better mounted on the wall, sho nuff, but a pain in the ass to strip and clean in the field, SCAR 17 comes apart like it's Lego, no muss no fuss no tools, and tellin' you, SCAR 17; you'll double take to make sure that's actually 7.62, shoots the FN FAL round, but feels like an M16, 168gr, without the kick.

tbh, I would just ditch the AR's and replace them with SCAR 17, doesn't weigh much more than an M16, while easier to use, in all situations, to include CQB, and yet; it's full bore. It's more accurate, more reliable, longer ranged, harder hitting, better ergonomics, simplified operation, modular maintainance, with no wieght/recoil penalty to speak of; what's not to love? Price? Uncah Sugah can afford it, ain't no thang.

I even prefer it to HK417 because HK ported over the design flaws of the AR, whereas the SCAR is the 21st Century FN FAL...

All True. (I still have a soft spot for the M1A)

The SCAR is great, but I can't get past the price. $ 3200 American. I've got a long list of guns I want, and I can get several for that loot.

US Military is looking very seriously at the HK416 as a replacement to the M16 platform, and they've already said 7.62 X 51 will be used as well as 5.56 X 45

Everyone only needs just one.

But I'm building a damn armory here for a squad. I have to think modularity and interchangeability.

Frankly, I haven't mastered the AR platform yet. Until I can build one without any references, I can look at every spring and know exactly where it goes.......... I still have work to do.

Plus I have my M1 Carbine build I just started. It's going to be all WWII parts.

I'm full of excuses aren't I.
