Expert: Hyperinflation can't happen in the US
https://mishtalk.com/economics/the-fed- ... tary-event
I don't disagree with his premise that Hyperinflation is sparked by a political event. However, the idea that it can't happen here is ridiculous. The Fed is piling up all the tinder and is sprinkling it with gasoline. Plus, the distrust in government is as big as I have real memory of in my life. Though it was pretty high when I was a kid in the 70s.

it can happen, it's just not as imminent as the hysteria would surmise perhapsC-Mag wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 11:06 amExpert: Hyperinflation can't happen in the US

the trajectory is more like Japanification, Japan being at 234% debt to gdp ratio in a demographic spiral
in terms of a political event, the scale of that would have to be something like a major war
to wit, Germany didn't have hyperinflation until they lost the First World War
hyperinflation for a great power is the crash upon defeat in a war of hegemonic succession
the hyperinlflation was imposed on Germany by the Treaty of Versailles

How was that trade deficit number this morning, lads?
I wouldn't worry about our money supply or interest rates or whatever. Just keep rocking US stonks and smoke another bowl.

Investing is not about saving America from bad fiscal policies
like that's a bad investment strategy
but so would investing based upon fears of hyperinflation be

In our other recent example.
The trigger for Zimbabwe was the presanction of White Farmers, leading to White flight. When word got out the White producers were all leaving shit went nuts. But it's hard for me to think that anything that happened in Zimbabwe having much application in the US.

the trade deficit is simply a function of American consumption
Americans buy more products and services than anybody else on earth
there is no lever to pull which would change that, so the deficit is neither here nor there investment wise

exactly, Zimbabwe is a not a world spanning global hegenomy
America is not Venezuela, nor Zimbabwe
America could be Wiemar Germany at some point, but there would have to be an hegemonic succession first

Re: Investing Thread (Stocks, Crypto, Real Estate, Whatever)
the wildcard in America is the breakdown of the societal order itself
the breakdown of the male dominance hierarchy
the breakdown of fatherhood, husbandry, being the man of the house
that is the breakdown of the species at the functional level, that is when things can go haywire
and that could be a thing which incites a catastrophic hegemonic succession
false idolatry can fell empires, culture is destiny

+1
Yeah, and I'm not sure Weimar Germany is a great example either.
All I know is when the globalization economy is toddering. When it goes, it wont be just the US, it will be global.

exactly, a hegemonic succession would take everybody down
but that is why nobody is actually trying to take America down, not even China, at least not yet
the name of the game now is plundering the American empire
the empire hasn't collapsed, but it is contracting, it is in decline
so the Guided Age 2.0 elites are looting the place, sucking up all the money to them, in a kind of panic
it wont actually save them, but they have the levers in their hands, and they are panicking
it's inciting a kleptocracy
they are robbing from the poor to give to the rich, stealing from the young to give to the old
