Reminder, bulk Russian ammo in 7.62 both 54r and .39 is stupid cheap. Don't know if you are allowed to order ammo online but if you can bulk Russian is something to consider. I think it performs better than .223 anyway. Just dirty and corrosive.

Drilling guns are really cool, many are a work of art

Here is one that went to auction in 2010, it was made for Herman Goering. I know at least 2 more of Ole Herman's Drilling guns sit in the FT Benning in the Infantry Museum.

Good Enough for Herman Goering, good enough for Otern !

IMO the 30-06 is a slightly better round than the .308, flatter shooting and harder hitting, .308's are a hair more accurate. But for most it doesn't matter.

What are the laws on multiple interchangable barrel rifles ? There have been many guns produced where you can switch barrels and calibers.
The whole interchangable barrel rifles is how most people get around that 6 hunting guns limit. So, one could get one gun, and multiple barrels and calibers for that rifle, and it still counts as one rifle. Same with combination guns, a shotgun/rifle combi, or a drilling, will still only count as a single gun. Probably why they're so popular around here.

But those rifles are way over my budget so far.

Just seems like the best choice for bird hunting. Can have a more open choke in the first barrel, then a tighter one in the second. So if you miss the first, you'll have a tighter choke for the longer range when the bird is a little longer away.

I'd buy the RMCS-4 in a heartbeat.

I see. Why not get the field gun in .410 and a short barrel pump in 12ga? That's probably what I would do.

Anybody ever had some fun with a T/C Contender?

My dad had one back in the 70s/80s with several barrels; and I hand loaded rounds for every barrel we had. Now that was fun.

I'm not a fan of interchangeable guns but that looks genuinely handy in a SHTF scenario.
