Hwen Knows.

Deep Space Nine is the darkest that Star Trek has ever been and it's the best that Star Trek has ever been. That first season though, fucking terrible outside a handful of episodes, it gets good late, excluding the Original Series, every Star Trek series has been real slow out the gate, Discovery still pending.

DS9 is the best, you're a chump if you think otherwise.

Someday, I’ll force myself beyond the first, pastel episode and see what the fuss is about.

It still looks like Cheers in Space to me.

It gets good near the end of the second season, and keeps getting better as it goes, by far the best Star Trek series, it's not all one galaxy kumbaya, actual conflict between crew members and between different cultures, it even paints the vaunted United Federation of Planets in a more negative light, just ask Michael Eddington:

"You know in some ways, you're even worse than the Borg. At least they tell you about their plans for assimilation, you're more insidious, you assimilate people and they don't even know it"

Trust me, best Star Trek series ever. Watch it before you watch Discovery, you won't be sorry.

Agreed. End of 2nd season, then by the time the 3rd season is over and Worf arrives and actually becomes a kick ass fighter
Best plot lines
Best Cast over all
For supporting characters, Garak and Quark rock

The actor is straight up loon, but Benjamin Sisko is a great captain.
