First I’ve heard of the wild horse issue, but we’ve got a fucking ton more stray dogs here.

It's not real popular to talk how federal agencies mismangage wildlife and cause environmental damage.

So we are stuck with spending $50 million a year to warehouse 46,000 “wild” horses in pens and pastures, while 73,000 roam free on grazing land that can sustain only 27,000 animals. The main population reduction method left for the federal land agencies is adoption. According to The Washington Post only 3,500 wild horses were adopted in 2017.

You could probably break them before adoption and factor the cost i to the adoption fee.

People pay a shit ton of money for what essentially are hobby horses.

A lot in the West, not elsewhere. Plus it's a real pain in the ass. I learned through mostly failure. When I was in the Army I was on the Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard for a few years. Best duty ever. We were having budget issues getting new horses and our remuda was aging. I had this brain fart that we should get Wild Horses free from BLM, break and train them. Lots of crazy stories getting from A to B, in the end we had 2 trustworthy horses out of 20.
