the Canadian Army is adopting a new camouflage pattern

it's like a cross between MARPAT and Multicam, like a digital Multicam

Canadian Disruptive Pattern - Multi Terrain ( CADPAT-MT )

worn here by Mike (Parachute) Company, 3rd Battalion The Royal Canadian Regiment ( 3RCR )

at "Tigerland" : JRTC Fort Polk Louisiana

when I first joined the regiment back in the 1980's, there were still lots of WWII vets around

there is a regimental Old Comrades Association, so they still came the Messes

they were in their 60's, but they were still pretty spry

still drinking, still smoking like chimneys, still picking fights, still flirting with the pretty girls

they sure loved us, mind you

most kids in Canada at the time were dirty leftist hippies, we were the only young folk they could relate to

as to WWII, they said it was the worst thing imaginable, you don't want any part of that

most of them said they just joined because of the Depression, they just wanted excitement

but if they had known what they were getting themselves into, they never would have volunteered

they all said the same thing in the end, just find yourself a pretty girl and marry her, that's the good life

one critical historical event to notice there is the encirclement of the Allies by Guderian

Blitzkrieg wasn't a plan the Germans had at the beginning of the war, they discovered it by accident

Guderian was ordered to wait for the infantry to catch up, but he disobeyed orders

he took his tanks without the infantry and cut the allied lines of communication

the German high command didn't think it was a safe thing to do, but it worked, the tanks did it without infantry

and thus the Blitzkrieg was born, unplanned, just Guderian taking the initiative without permission

Hitler then gets the idea that they could do this to the Soviets on a much larger scale

so it becomes a war of encirclement, cutting off huge numbers of troops with fast moving tanks

wasn't that the Germans had more tanks, nor better tanks, they had just discovered a better way to use them

see, what happened was, Stalin was convinced that Hitler would not screw him

Stalin was convinced that it was not in Hitler's interest to break the Pact of Steel

Stalin was convinced that the Germans would fight the British & French in another WWI style trench war

once the German's were weakened by that, then Stalin would screw Hitler and invade Germany

so Stalin had all his forces stacked up right on the frontier, preparing for a massive offensive against Germany

but with the accidental discovery of Blitzkrieg, the Germans had a new concept of operations

smaller formations of faster tanks could encircle much larger formations and kill them asymmetrically

the Soviets failed to adjust their plans with the sudden defeat of France with tank encirclement

they didn't react fast enough to prepare for this new style of war, they were too bureaucratic, no initiative

so Hitler caught the Soviets napping, encircling huge numbers of them all at once

you just encircle, you don't fight them to the last man, once encircled they just run out of supplies and die

but the Soviets learned quick, started copying the Germans, and then started beating them at their own game

the T-34 as just so much easier to build than Panther & Tiger tanks, so the Germans were getting encircled then

starting at Stalingrad, the biggest encirclement of them all, killing the 6th Army trapped in the city

this is why I was never a fan of Hardcore History

Carlin had the Hollywood Liberal Panty Waist view of war

it was all about human suffering, oh the humanity, how many people were killed in what horrendous ways

but that's like social history, left wing non history, it doesn't get to the central narrative

you don't learn what is important, you already know war is terrible, that's not telling you anything historical

what happened, why, where & how, that is what is important, the lessons learned

any idiot can make things complex, talk about it for fourteen hours without explaining anything

true genius is making the complex simple, getting to the central narrative without all the blubbering and whatnot

that's real history, because the point is to learn lessons, not feel sorry for the long dead participants

when you erase the central narrative, replacing it with a bunch of emotional baggage, that's what the Woke do

instead of listening to fourteen hours of Dan blubbering on about the horrors of war, which is not actually history

you just watch one of these Eastory videos, and it explains everything quite simply in ten minutes
