tech help

Post by TheReal_ND » Mon Jan 28, 2019 7:37 pm

Shot in the dark here but maybe someone can help me out here. I got a new phone on a new provider and ever since then it seems like any time someone embeds images from Twitter it doesn't show on my end. Example:

Code: Select all

I'm using firefox on Android and I believe it's updated all the way. Also using ublock origin and video play in background fix as add ons. I looked around a little and it seems like a common issue but I don't see a way to fix it on my phone. I tried turning "do not track" off and it still doesn't work. Maybe some guy that's good with the cyber can help me out here. It's pissing me off. For that matter clicking on Twitter links to videos doesn't work either.

OK -- Tech Bleg time for me. I'm looking at a good USB microphone for my home office. No headset, just a mic. Do I need to drop $119 or can I get by for $34?

I also want a nice 3.5mm lapel mic for the truck and hanging outdoors. Google docs voice typing on my Samsung works great, but I want a mic for hands free drive and walk time. Is a $12 mic from Amazon as good as any for just dictating, not recording?

I heard yetis are a meme. iPhone mics seem to work until you have multiple people recording and it blasts them all out. It tends to come in way too loud and is hard to adjust for.

I know a dumb redneck that spent like $400 for a damn Yeti cooler. Amazing.

Anyway, can I get nice quality sound recordings from the $34 mic?

Yes I think so. I listen to some podcasts where they talk about sound equipment a little and it seems like the snowball is pretty good.

Fife is starting a podcast I see. May I give you a suggestion for the title?

Yeti's are the most recognized name, and I have to say decent quality. $119 for a Mic that isn't a pro-level is good.
