Another cop doing his private business on the public dime.
Had the same thing a few weeks ago with the cop refusing to leave his gun at the door when he was browsing jewelry stores while on duty.
No wonder all those pedophiles are running around free, all the cops are getting their own shit done.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

This "gun-free area" is federal property and under federal jurisdiction. The sheriff's department has no jurisdiction there and is subject to the same laws you or I would be, especially when they are not in that property for official business.

Local departments don’t police federal buildings?
They do not have jurisdiction. They might have specific agreements to do so for things like a post office, but that is not a blanket waiver to carry weapons on federal property. Even then, they are just going to detain the criminal until marshals or some federal law enforcement guy picks them up.
