They've been dead for years, while you were traipsing about in the woods. There is no 'main street' in America, except for a few fabric stores and specialty shops. The kids are busy playing vidya games or killing each other.

Still pretty busy here Sundays are nearly as busy as any other day of the week now.
Starting to die though and I think it's a bad thing. Still it's an excuse to build more of these.

It's the opposite in a lot of old cities in the south. Main street is lined with nice hundred year old homes, but they're all businesses now.

Looks like a nice town. As usual, when checking out a southern town I haven't visited yet, I look up the confederate memorial, and any military cemeteries, in case I get to visit sometime. If my 4-H girls get to go back to Perry, GA, next summer, I'm taking the scenic route around the ATL by there.

History, of course, is subjective and never 100 percent accurate. It’s fair to say that we really don’t know if this iron ball was, in fact, the first shot fired during the Civil War. Historians even disagree on whether another Confederate battery first fired on Sumter, cheating Ruffin of the honors.
