"sadistic brute" is a fabricated myth, concocted by the wealthy Christian family after the fact, to try to justify Fletcher's treason. They had money, Bligh didn't, they could buy the newspapers off to peddle their version of events, Bligh couldn't.

To be fair he was no worse than any other Skipper in his day. I still want me some grass skirted poon though.

Exactly and exactly, Bligh was a model Royal Navy officer, Fletcher Christian and Co. were never set upon by a sadistic brute, they commited treason, all for a piece of pussy in a South Pacific honeypot.
