Re: The Official Unofficial Rules
Fine I have one additional rule.
No sock puppets.
Its hard to prove, but I remember being a mod on the DCF you could see IP addresses so there was at least that.
I'd suggest if someone needs sock puppets they need a time out.

Only those who have something to hide don't want their IPs sniffed about.
Perhaps we need some kind of forum ID card? Unlike the hassle of getting a voter ID, that would be totally free. Free, y'all!

Are you attempting to point that out by example?

Did you not know the mods could do that? I left the mods before the sock puppet shenanigans happened, but I don't see a problem saying you can't engage in blatantly deceptive behavior up front and letting mods police that.

I can create a sticky thread, but, as Fife asked, do we really need a posted set of rules?

Maybe substitute the word guidelines for rules.Kath wrote:I can create a sticky thread, but, as Fife asked, do we really need a posted set of rules?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Just a little joke, Cid.Cid wrote:Did you not know the mods could do that? I left the mods before the sock puppet shenanigans happened, but I don't see a problem saying you can't engage in blatantly deceptive behavior up front and letting mods police that.
Nobody wants spam, and nobody wants what amounts to hacking to interrupt service.
I'm good with rules against burning down the bulletin board, or locking others away from seeing it. I'm skeptical, to say the least, about rules on what can be written on the board.

I feel that, but most of us play it like a game, and games without rules suck. Even if the rules are just standards and there's no punishment except ridicule.

I think it's a good idea.Kath wrote:I can create a sticky thread, but, as Fife asked, do we really need a posted set of rules?
5 rules is far from overkill.
And those rules have served us well in the past.
Will Zlaker add the extra two rules to his OP.... so you don't need to scroll down.
Any further debate needed?
