I Started a New Novel, “Sacrificio”

I'm in the middle of writing an outline for a new book. (What better to do while in Peru?) It's another dark murder suspense story. This time set in Central America with flashbacks to the Maya empire. It's called "Sacrificio." I'll finish it end of this year.

p.s. It's set in Central America & Mayas rather than Peru & Incans b/c Gwynne & I will be traveling through 8 old Maya ruined cities next year and I'll be using those visits as reference.

I finished the outline: it's divided into 400 sections of 250 words each. I just wrote the first paragraph this morning, and every morning until ~100K words. I already started on the cover: I hope that doesn't jinx it.

I like to set little goals along the way to motivate me. Plus, you might find my progress interesting.

Hit the goal of a quarter written. I've been looking forward to this for 4 days: it was going to be 5 but I got so excited today that I pushed through an extra section to get done.

Halfway done: 50K words. I'm getting to know the characters pretty well and am planning to write the climax chapters next so I need to understand their motivations.
