Fixed My Dryer
Took about 20 minutes.
How many people here can fix an old clothes dryer?

Re: Fixed My Dryer
I'm sure I could... I fixed my washing machine (that came with the house when I bought it... 29 years ago now), the drain pump seized up... $40 for the replacement pump, pulled the washer away from the wall and tilted it back, 30 minutes maybe with a screwdriver and wrench... Well, and I got a tad wet from the water that I couldn't bail out manually (obviously it wouldn't drain) that gushed out when I disconnected the hoses, but c'est la vie?
Depends of course on what the problem is and if you can find the part(s). For intance I have a spare igniter coil on the shelf for my furnace... I've replaced two in 30 years, after the first I bought a spare for $30, and immediately bought another when I had to use that one. Though I could use a totally new furnace at this point, but nothing beats having the part just sitting on your shelf when the furnace dies and it's 10F out.
I grew up around a TV repairman grandfather, so I can fix most old CRT TVs/Monitors too. The new surface mount stuff though is a lot tougher to deal with though. Even with good magnifying specs it's hard soldering accurately on something 6mm long, or a transistor or IC with .3mm leads.

I can. Our roller went out, so I had to go up the street to the appliance guy's house, and he just gave me one. I went back to the house and replaced it. I found a lot of change, too. I actually made money on that repair.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 11:10 pmTook about 20 minutes.

I took mine apart several times last year. Replaced the belt, rollers, and heating unit.

I was raised to always try to fix something before resorting to buying something "new".

I've fixed our dishwasher several times. Siemens didn't anticipate pine nuts.
Last week my son broke his DXRacer Formula F08 gaming chair. I found a spare part on Amazon Germany. It cost me $38 including shipping. Easy fix after that.
