Made me curious about the Oka crisis. Is this film worth watching?
Well, it's made entirely from the Mohawks point of view, so it's laced with a lot of propaganda, but it does give a flavor of what the crisis was all about, at least from the very front line at Oka, the operation actually spanned from Quebec into Ontario, there were actually two operations going on at once, Op Salon in Quebec and Op Feather in Ontario, but Op Salon was the main event so that's where the media concentrated.
Is there a more balanced documentary?
Not really, the Canadian version of events will be laced with Canadian propaganda.

Keep the French In, the Americans out, and the Indians down.

I've made a start on it now anyway.
Where were you deployed?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I was deployed for force protection in the Ontario operation

There was the two blockades in Quebec, but they also drove around and caused ruckuses elsewhere

There's Mohawks all the way from Oka in Quebec, through Cornwall in Ontario, down to Hamilton where Capps is

The blockade in place right now for example is Ontario Mohawks, the Tyendinaga around Bellville

It's too late now for me to watch it all so I'll have to finish it tomorrow. Has a bit of a 60's-70's hippy vibe to it.
Was it ever determined who was responsible for Lemay's death?

He was hit by a 7.62 x 39mm slug, which is Soviet Avtomet Kalashnikov, so that was the Mohawks

Mind you, this is after the Frenchie hot heads charged the Mohawks barricade with a bulldozer and a gunfight ensued

The Mohawks were being shot at too, it was a two way range, incoming and outgoing, total fiasco

The Mohawks are Canada's version of the Bundy Family

Except there's about 25,000 of them

Hard not to side with them tbh.
They were there first after all and to encroach on burial grounds to build a bloody golf course is a shitty move.

I side against Canada, but not necessarily with the Mohawks, because the Mohawks are also shady, they live by the rule of a mob

I'm naturally inclined to be against the French.

The Mohawks are no different than the Fenians tho, a quasi Marxist mob of illegitimate land pirates

This is Canada's IRA, they just haven't turned it into PIRA yet

Because they haven't had their Bogside Massacre moment yet
