For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.

Now, the only silver lining of this depleted defense is that we will be getting a sense of where Travis Dermott and Rasmus Sandin are in terms of their overall development against NHL competition.

Up until now, they've been sheltered in limited minutes against the other teams depth, but in this circumstance, Keefe is going to have to play them around 20 minutes against top comp.

It's not so much about them being ready right now, but we will get a sense of where they are in the development trajectory on the path to being top four defensemen which they are projected to be.

Can they step in next year right out of camp to replace free agents who will be departing ? This will give us an idea of how close they are to doing that.

17th overall pick Timothy Liljegren has also been called up as additional depth, hopefully he gets in at some point, because we haven't seen him play in the NHL yet.

There are only a handful of teams who have scored fewer than New Jersey so it may be a good time to try out a new defense.

Watch out for 1st overall pick Jack Hughes, he's American, but he played minor hockey in Toronto, so he's probably motivated to put on a show.

If the defense is weak we're going to need the forward line to turn up. Nylander is due a good game.

The Devils have just fired their General Manager, Ray Shero.

He's the former GM of the Penguins who orchestrated their championship teams.

He went out and traded for Subban and that's been a big bust, so PK pretty much got him fired.
