Well you're wrong about that. West African fighters, especially Nigerians, starting to do big things, but not using african martial arts.

Wrong in your emphasis, dismissive of something more relevant to martial arts, and emphasizing techniques that don't make a great base for fighting. You'd be better off discussing random black dudes fighting than African martial arts making big waves, as random black fighters are more relevant to fighting. DB's video just isn't indicative of that.

Caporeira is shit base. No good MMA fighters have that as a base. Some Caporeira techniques are effective in the right situations, if it was so good, lots of top end MMA fighters would have it as a base, and yet none of them do.

Anderson Silva wasn't a Capoeira fighter, he's a Muay Thai guy who knew how to use some Capoeira techniques. It was his boxing that carried him when he was at the top of the sport, counter boxing was his bread and butter as Middleweight Champion, not Capoeira.

Also he lost that fight to Brunson and got a bullshit decision victory. He also just got his ass kicked on the feet by a West African contender named Israel Adesanya. Caporeira can be mixed into to a fighters game, but none of the best fighters are primarily a Capoeira guy.

I get it you like flashy kicks and movement, but that shit is not making big waves in fighting.
