Yeah, my dad will not go back there no way. He hates them.
My uncle was a UH-1 pilot, he says he doesn't remember anything about it except the approach to the LZ, but he never set foot on the ground so the battle itself he mostly followed on the radio.
My dad was a marine. Da Nang, mostly, but he took a lot of photos on their excursions into the countryside.
Yeah, that's traumatizing, because of the mines and booby traps, that's no fun.

My uncle on the other hand, he said Vietnam was fun and exciting for him, even tho he was Army, he was actually fighting the air war.

They drank cold beer and ate steaks, then they flew the birds, which they loved to do.

I once asked my uncle about Apocalypse Now, how realistic or unrealistic was it, the Air Cav part.

He said the unrealistic part was that Colonel Kilgore was actually toned down from the real thing.

There was never any morale problems in the Air Cav, they were all Kilgore's.

Just as an aside, why is it that so many Scottish dudes have that same look, like cattle waiting in line at the slaughter house or something?

Yeah, see, that's the Monoculture, there's nothing in Hanoi or wherever, that isn't everywhere.

I can get good Vietnamese food right here where I live.

The Vietnam War is the only interesting thing to ever happen in Vietnam.

America has already conquered the world, everywhere you go they just have cheap knock off of American culture.

I prefer the real deal, no need to go to Hanoi just to ride a scooter, I can do that on Venice Beach.

Like I say, the only reason to set foot in Vietnam, would be American history.

The turning points, the Chu Pong Massif in the Ia Drang, Hill 937 in the A Shau.

Otherwise, it's just another third world communist shit hole,

Not to mention that all of Asia is a no go zone for Weed.

Fuck that.

Now that I'm used to legal weed, I'll only spend my money in weed friendly jurisdictions.

This is what is keeping me from going to Florida, Nevada over Florida, just on Weed.
