Back to Westeros: there's gotta be rules. You can't handwave whenever you fuck up the plot. This is why Arya recovering from her gutting by the Waif was such stupid writing. Don't make something happen which then requires suspension of disbelief for an inexplicable outcome. Contrast that with The Hound's compound femur fracture. He and all of us knew he was going to die. That's the usual outcome of that wound in that situation. That the terribly wasted Ian McShane saved him was explained plausibly. He did almost die even with knowledgeable care. No plot hole.
I agree with what you said. When Arya had instant recovery, I was pissed off. Arya's entire time in Bravos was a complete failure, in my eyes. There's plenty in the show that disappoints me; who 100% loves every aspect of things they enjoy? You just gotta move on or stop watching. I chose to carry on. It doesn't make it a bad show, it's a great show that has *groan* moments/threads.

You are hanging onto a very small aspect, simply because you are a SME on the topic. I'm sure the series is riddled with these types of situations that we don't notice, simply because we don't understand the topic well enough to even consider or worry about what's happening. Did Jaime's giant wound heal in the proper time frame? I have no idea, but I'll bet there are fans who are doctors who had groan moments when something looked like it happened too quickly, or not quickly enough, or the scar looked off, or whatever. Is it even possible to sleep on a sloped surface without sliding? I doubt it. That one kinda bugged me, but I moved on.

Examples everywhere ....

I'm sure doctors tear their hair out all the time watching TV! Lawyers too. I was just watching an episode of Billions S2, and they went right from arrest of a billionaire financier to jury voir dire in what seemed days rather than the many months it would really be. Law and Order was notorious for this, but all TV and movies do it, real life "Justice" is just too unbelievably slow.

Me, my "nemesis" show was McGyver. Most of it was utter bullshit. Same for house flipping porn. You can't demo a kitchen for the price they said they were rebuilding one.

Who are you kidding?

Back in our day we would be adjusting our aerial antennaes to get better reception.

Exactly. Sometimes stories are edited down to ridiculous levels in order to tell the story, rather than worrying about time frames. GoT needed a way to illustrate that preparations are underway. They needed someone to do that. Gendry wasn't busy. Gendry builds tools. Have Gendry do it. That's probably as far as it went. Whether or not it was realistic probably didn't even enter the thought process, since it's such a minor detail that very few people would put into context.

I use the demo/flip shows as a way to generate ideas. Anyone who uses those shows to gauge costs is in for a very rude awakening.

That chick in CA who would walk into a $900K home and claim, "We'll demo the entire kitchen and start fresh for $9K," is some of the most BS nonsense you can hear. I'm sure there's SOME truth in there, as in, they get subsidies from the network to bring costs down. Nothing the public would have access to.

There were a few times as a kid, say an important ball game or big news, that my dad would say just that. Pity the kid that was in the room (sometimes me,) when dad needed that service. LOL.

Finally watched S8E1.

Setting the scene. Pretty predictable stuff. Nothing that made you go wow. Just making sure everyone is on the same page moving forwards.

They sure aren't overestimating their audience.

Someone posited (probably in this thread,) that Varys would help navigate the seven kingdoms into a democracy. That's my favorite, but I rate it unlikely.

My best guess after 8.1 is Sansa.
