Game of Thrones - mostly

Post by Kath » Fri Mar 08, 2019 2:04 pm

Who is up for discussing Season 8 as it flies by? Six episodes, but supposedly, some of them will be feature-film length. It's been almost two years....

I'm re-watching/skimming through earlier seasons. Currently in 5. I'll likely watch entire episodes of 6 & 7.

Can't wait to see the battles in season 8 - it had better be epic.

Predictions on who will sit on the throne? Has to be King Jon & Queen Dany, no?

Why are all the Gods such vicious cunts? Where's the God of tits and wine?

Its the best show on TV that everyone watches and its the best show in the non-sci fi fantasy genre by a long shot. When it comes to the "water cooler effect", no show currently on TV can match GoT, aside from The Walking Dead, and TWD is notably worse.

Death. Destruction. Violence. Dragons. Whores. Bastards & broken things. Incest. Torture. Sex. Moon doors. The Wall. The Unsullied. The list of cool things goes on and on.

It's a very rich story with a boatload of threads that run very deep. The battle scenes in this show out-class every battle scene I've seen.

The number deaths is equal to the number of unique ways TO die.

Seriously, though, it's good stuff.

It's a pre technology society about who gets to be king. It's an incredibly interesting and complex story, with exceptional cinematography and costume design. Some characters get new beautiful clothes in each episode, and some characters stay in the same rags for three seasons. Each character has their own thread, so you get to dive really deep into the characters. It's easy to get lost in this show.

So many people re-watch because a) there's so much detail, it's nearly impossible to get it all in the first viewing and b) it's just plain ole' fun.

Yeah, Game of Thrones has solid re-watch value, I can attest to that. It's the second most overrated show on television, but it's still good.

OK. I came to Seinfeld late as well. Pretty much the way it was described to me. I'll check it out.

From the pics I've seen it's all barbarian, knights and medieval shit. I hope there some good sex and violence, pestilence and plague, castle intrigue and assassinations.

GoT has lots of political intrigue and assassinations, it's like a Medieval version of The Wire like that, except nowhere near as good.
