Wars of the Twentieth Century

A few years ago, I bought 3 books by an author named Daniel Orr. The series was called: Wars of the 20th century. Each book had between 20-30 conflicts in it, and was summarized briefly. These conflicts are not the ones that are frequently covered by the history channel or podcasters. They are largely forgotten, but to me it is very interesting. If you are interested in filling in the blanks on your knowledge of the modern world, this series is well worth checking out. Orr does not spend more than 10-20 pages covering each conflict, but he does a thorough job, and as a primer these books are invaluable.

Some of the Wars covered:

1971 Bangladesh War of Independence
The Greek Civil War
Thousand Days War
Angolan War
Nicaraguan Revolution
Vietnamese Invasion of Cambodia
1983 Kurdish Rebellion
Ugandan Bush War
Nagorno Karabakh War
Football War

Anyway, there are dozens of other conflicts covered in this book, but it is a great resource if you have any interest in obscure conflicts not often covered on the beaten path of military history. You can find these volumes used on Amazon (which is what I did) and they don't cost too much. Just throwing this out here.
