My witty recommendation is the hard reality. If you don't care about the environment, fine. Most don't. If you do, that is what you need to do and convince others to do. All this other shit is window dressing. I doubt you'd convince others, but I would at least be impressed by your convictions. Most of environmentalism boils down to:

"Someone should invent something!"

"This thing is bad but I still do it. Other people shouldn't do this thing I do!"
